2ft non co2 planted tank

Hi all,
Before I get my equipments and commission my 2ft by 1.5ft by 1.5ft tank I will need some advice from you guys here.
Tank light normal DIY 14W T5 from hardware shop
Filtration
OHF with Dymax ph600 on volcano media and a bit of coral chip
Substarte
Haven decided so I hope to get some brands to kook out for.
No intentions of using Co2 because I want to keep it simple.
Fauna im looking at sakura or cherry shrimps. The tank will be in my room and Ill be turning on the Aircon at night.
Fauna probably keeping it simple. A driftwood with nanas tied on and some ferns.
Will need advice on how to counter some issues like snails and algae.
Ive already gotten the tank but if the cost of setting up exceeds my budget Ill be letting go the tank. So I will truly appreciate if any experts here can advice me on starting up the tank and to add on to anything Ive missed out! Thank you very much: )

bro, keep your plants that uve got from in a container for observation b4 they r placed in your main tank will help to avoid from snails.
oto is 1 of the algae-eating fish that will not attack shrimp.
the cost of setting up can be low by adding bit by bit.

the cost of setting up can be low by adding bit by bit. Thanks! What kind of substrate soil can j get
>ADA is one of the best ones out there. Very nutrient rich. Some might find it overkill for your setup but trust me.. you would not want to go wrong with soil.. they are the very base of your tank
>Originally Posted by yujieyeo Thanks! What kind of substrate soil can j get sorry bro, i cant advise on this as ive never tried b4.
>I go for ada soil too. No problem if you keep shrimps..
>Another cheaper alternative would be Gex substrate. For my previous planted I added root fertilizer tab as additional nourishment.
>Bro, if you just intend to keep the non stem plants like nanas and ferns, then no need soil. Can just use small size gravel. Even for stem plants, last time I used small size gravel, lay with rootmaster. Should be good enough to start a decent tank. Only later when I decided to try more advanced plants, then I used soil. You can choose to use sand too, but sand is smaller size and can get sucked into your filter if not careful. Also sand not easy to clear when you decide to rescape.
Hope this helps in your choice of substrate!
>I kept a heavily planted tank for a year before decom had no problems. Sulawesi Tenggara Aquarium
